After the first two blowout games of team USA against China and Venezuela, the Americans had a hard time against Australia and a close call against Serbia, to remain undefeated in the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil.

USA 199 China 62

Kevin Durant led team USA with 25 points while DeMarcus Cousins added 17 points and 5 rebounds to give team USA its 17th consecutive win under coach Krzyzewski. Yi Jianlian led China with 25 points.


USA 113 Venezuela 69

Paul George with 20 points, Jimmy Butler with 17 and Kevin Durant scored 16 points for team USA.

USA 98 Australia 88

The USA captain and 4-time Olympian Carmelo Anthony led the Americans with 31 points, including 9 three pointers and 8 rebounds. Kyrie Irvings three pointer in the final minutes was decisive. Patty Mills scored 30 points for Australia.

USA 94 Serbia 91

USA survived its first meeting against Serbia in the Olympics. Irving with 15 points, Jordan 13, Durant, Anthony and George with 12 points each to give USA its 3 point victory against the tough Serbian team. Jokic with 25 points and Teodosic with 18 points for Serbia.

France’s Evan Fournier is in PH Shooting Hoops

Evan Fournier, a member of the French national basketball team is in the country. He posted photos of him in his instagram shooting hoops in Coron Palawan.

“First day and already back in the court”

Fournier, Orlando Magic guard, is expected to represent France in the FIBA Olympic Qualifiers to be held in Mall of Asia Arena this july. Gilas Pilipinas will battle Fance in the 1st day of the tournament.

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets for 3-1 lead in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. The Warriors led by Klay Thompson handed the Rockets its 3rd loss with a 121-94 final score. Klay had 23 points and 5 assists.

Steph Curry, who only had 6 points in the game, suffered a sprained right knee when he slipped right before the end of the first half.Curry was very frustrated, he tried to run in the locker room and tried to start the second half but it just cannot happen.

Game tied at 56 at halftime, the Warriors without the league MVP, outscored the Rockets 41-20 in the 3rd quarter.

Dwight Howard led the Rockets with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

It’s 2-0 for the Warriors

Golden State Warriors take a 2-0 lead after holding off the Houston Rockets 115-106.  
Klay Thompson led the warriors scoring 34 points and dished out five assists for the defending champions, playing without the NBA MVP Steph Curry because of an injured right ankle. Curry cut short his pregame warmup routine after appearing to be in discomfort as he was shooting while putting little pressure on the tender ankle.

Andre Iguodala, last year’s Finals MVP, added 18 points with four 3-pointers and Draymond Green had 12 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.

James Harden had 28 points and 11 assists to lead the Rockets. He made 13 of 15 free throws after not attempting one in the opener.

Big man Marreese Speights hit a key momentum 3-pointer from the baseline with 8.2 seconds remaining in the third quarter to make it 86-79, and the deep, versatile Warriors showed they can win without Curry on the playoff stage just as everybody on the roster believed.

Shaun Livingston, who left Sunday’s practice with an illness, had 16 points and six assists playing in Curry’s place.

After a 26-point victory in Game 1, the Warriors had to work a little harder in Game 2.

Dwight Howard’s dunk of an alley-oop pass with 6:54 left in the third pulled the Rockets within 71-67, but Golden State kept answering with big baskets.

“There’s a smaller margin for error,” Kerr said of a lineup without Curry.

Curry will not Play in Game 2

Golden State Warriors point guard and 2015 season MVP Stephen Curry will not play In Game 2 against the Houston Rockets due to his right ankle injury, the team has announced. Shaun Livingston will start in his place.

Curry had 24 points and seven rebounds in just 20 minutes in Saturday’s Game 1 victory before leaving due to injury.

Curry missed a Dec. 31 game against the Rockets and forward Draymond Green had 16 assists in a triple-double in his absence.

Warriors Posted 73 Win Record

The Golden State Warriors finished the season with a new NBA win-loss record of 73-9, surpassing the ’96 Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls’ 72-10.

The defending champs led by Stephen Curry, defeated the Memphis Grizzlies with 125-104 final score. 

The reigning season MVP finished the game with 46 points including his 400th 3-point basket made in a single season.

Warriors Beat Spurs

The chase to 73 is alive! The Golden State Warriors has kept their bid for their 73 win record run alive, as the NBA defending champs beat the San Antonio Spurs, 92-86, at their home turf for their 72nd win. The Warrios now have a 72-9 season standing, tied with the ’96 Chicago Bulls’ record finish of 72-10.
The Warriors have a chance to break the Bulls’ record if they beat the Memphis Grizzlies in their season finale.

San Antonio spurs suffered their first home-game loss this season. They now have a 65-15 season standing and fell 40-1 at home. The spurs have a chance to tie the ’86 Boston Celtics’ 40-1 home record, if they beat the OKC Thunders in their final game at home this season.

The Warriors will face the Grizzlies on April 13.
